security guard salary in Malaysia per month

The security guard salary in Malaysia is set to increase as the government raises the basic salary for all employees, effective February 2025.

While the government has allowed small companies to delay implementing the new minimum wage until August 2025, security companies will not qualify for this exemption due to their larger size and higher number of employees.

Malaysia is a leading industrial nation in East Asia. While the economy has traditionally relied heavily on rubber production, the country has evolved significantly.

Today, it hosts numerous international companies that operate manufacturing and assembly facilities, solidifying its status as an industrial powerhouse.

Malaysia is home to a variety of international companies, including those in high-tech industries, manufacturing, aviation, and logistics. Most of these businesses are concentrated in industrial zones spread across different regions of the country.

As the industrial sector has grown, the government has implemented stricter regulations, requiring security firms to comply with the Private Agencies Act of 1971. Any organization intending to offer security-related services must first secure approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA).

Malaysia employs millions of migrant workers from Asia, Africa, and other East Asian countries across various sectors, including manufacturing, construction, rubber plantations, and hospitality.

However, the Malaysian government permits only Nepalese and Malaysian citizens to work in the security sector.

What is the security guard salary in Malaysia?

The salary of a security guard in Malaysia has been influenced by the country’s labor law because there is no specific salary for private security guards. If the country’s minimum wage increases the security guard’s salary is also impacted

Before we go into the security guard wage in Malaysia, I believe there are a few vital points to consider.

  • Security guards typically work in shifts, either during the day or at night, with each shift lasting 12 hours.
  • Security guards routinely work 4 hours of overtime daily.
  • The labor law also mandates that employers provide one rest day per week. However, in practice, security guards may be required to work seven consecutive days without a break.
  • Under the law, overtime on regular working days should be compensated at 50% above the regular hourly rate, while work performed on a rest day must be paid at double the normal rate.
  • Additionally, if an employee is required to work on a public holiday, the company is obligated to pay triple the standard wage.

Salary breakdown;

Basic Salary

  • Monthly Salary for 8 Hours: RM 1,700
  • Hourly Wage: RM 1,700 ÷ (26 days × 8 hours) = RM 8.17
  • Overtime Rate (50% Extra): RM 8.17 × 1.5 = RM 12.25

Overtime Pay Calculation

For 26 working days, assuming 4 rest days:

  • Daily Overtime Pay: 4 hours × RM 12.25 = RM 49.00
  • Monthly Overtime (26 days): 26 days × RM 49.00 = RM 1,274

Monthly Salary (Basic + Overtime):
RM 1,700 + RM 1,274 = RM 2,974

Rest Day Overtime Rate

  • Hourly Overtime Rate for Rest Day (Double Pay): RM 8.17 × 2 = RM 16.34
  • Daily Wage: RM 1,700 ÷ 26 = RM 65.38
  • One Rest Day Salary (12 Hours): RM 65.38 + (4 hours × RM 16.34) = RM 130.74

Full Monthly Salary with Rest Day Overtime (30 Days):

  • RM 2,974 + (4 rest days × RM 130.74) = RM 3,496.96

Alternative Rest Day Payment (Full-Day Pay):
If the company pays a full day’s salary for rest days instead of overtime:

  • Monthly Salary (30 Days): RM 2,974 + (4 rest days × RM 65.38) = RM 3,235.25

Conclusion:
The above calculations reflect the salary of a security guard in Malaysia based on compliance with Malaysian labor laws. However, the company’s compensation for rest days directly determines the full salary.

Guards earning according to labor laws can expect RM 3,496.96 for 30 days, while those receiving only full-day pay for rest days may earn RM 3,235.25.

career at emirates? What is the hiring timeline?

Emirates Airlines is a Dubai-based leading aviation company that operates 200+ wide body aircraft in more than 150 destinations and 80 countries worldwide. There are several opportunities for a career at emirates because it is employing new personnel to operate its grounded fleets as a result of the pandemic.

Emirates Group is the parent organization of Emirates Airlines it had employed more than 105,000 staff before Covid19, but 30% of them were laid off during the pandemic.

Currently, Emirates Airlines is running at 70 percent of its capacity, it needs a large workforce to function at full capacity.

The recruitment process of Emirates Airlines’ crew completes in four phases. How long the hiring process will end depends on the number of applications for the particular roles.

Unless unusual circumstances, the company recruits new employees within a specific timeframe, which I am going to discuss in this post.

The process of career at emirates

  1. Job Postings and Applications:

Although the organization publishes vacant positions primarily on its official job board, It also posted some positions on LinkedIn, Indeed, and other sites to reach a large number of job seekers.

Wherever the requirements have been published, the application link will redirect to the company’s official website.

Therefore, candidates must upload their CVs and fill out the online application form while creating a user account.

You need to apply on the official website, because, after COVID-19, the company encourages job seekers to submit their applications online rather than in person.

The majority of job advertisements receive applications one month after they publish, so, we can clearly understand that the application process can take from 15 to 30 days.

2. Assessment test:

The Assessment Test is the second step of the Emirates Airlines’ Crew recruitment procedure. It includes several evaluations such as English tests, psycho assessments, physical fitness, and appearance ratings, among others.

3. Interview;

The interview can take place online or in person, and the interviewers may ask you a range of questions about your prior experience, education, abilities, expertise, and behaviors.

Since preparation is the key to success everyone should prepare very well before attending interviews.

Prior to the interview, you should practice at home what you will say and how you will respond to the questions.

Practicing potential interview questions can boost your confidence and enable you to provide responses that flow more naturally.

For cabin crew, interview questions click here

4. Relocation;

After successfully passing the interview the last phase is relocation, the company will provide you with a visa, work permit, labor card, etc. The majority of crew members, excluding ground employees, must relocate to UAE.

The recruitment procedure is free because the employer will cover all costs involved with recruiting the employees.

If you looking for a career at Emirates Group, I recommend the official job portal of this company and Dnata for ground operations workers.

The entire recruitment procedure for Emirates airline crew and ground operation employees takes at least one month to three months.

Other factors, like company business, the performance of the global airline industries, and company earnings, can impact the duration of the continuous recruitment process.

What you should know about multi-professional solutions?

The multi-professional solutions SLR in Romania is a staffing agency established at the end of 2007. Since its inception, the company has employed non-EU citizens, primarily from Asian countries such as Nepal, India, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka.

As Romanian citizens prefer to work in other Western EU countries due to higher pay, local businesses are experiencing a shortage of unskilled workers in the markets.

In order to address national labor shortages Multi professional solutions recruits and places foreign workers in its partnered businesses.

According to the company, it has already hired more than 3,000 foreign nationals and placed them in various companies across the country.

What are the services of multi-professional solutions?

Similar to other staffing agencies, it conducts the recruitment process and provides manpower to local job markets. Multi-professional solutions’ services are as follows;

What types of employees does multi-professional solutions recruit?

If they are Romanian, MPS recruits all types of employees, but the following positions are popular for foreign workers:

  • Hospitality –  skilled personnel for hotels, restaurants, beauty and massage salons
  • Industrial sector – textiles, auto, recycling, and production workers
  • Agriculture workers
  • Constructions workers
  • FMCG Stokers

How do multi-professional solutions work?

First, the MPS receives the labor requirements from its business partners. Depending on whether the company prefers local or foreign workers. MPS organizes the recruitment event accordingly.

If the business partners require a local workforce, the MPS recruits them locally by placing job advertisements in national newspapers, job boards, and on its website.

If they want to hire relatively cheap workers from Non-EU nations. Multi-professional sends laborer demand to staffing agencies in different countries. These agencies and MPS may have previously reached an agreement on labor recruitment.

The workers might be interviewed online, or the company’s recruitment expert can travel to the country where they are employing the candidates.

The candidates who passed the interviews must submit the necessary documentation to the Manpower agencies for the immigration process.

Foreign workers who have obtained Romanian entry permits are able to enter the country and work without limitation.

How long does it take to obtain a work visa for Romania?

Foreign nationals require a work permit and long-term visa to live and work in Romania legally.

  1. Employers in Romania must apply for work permits on behalf of non-EU employees. Romanian labor law restricts employees from applying for work permits on their own.
  2.  The Inspectorate General for Immigration (IGI) is responsible for requesting additional documentation or issuing a work permit to foreign nationals within 30days. The time frame of the process may be extended by 15 days if additional documentation is required.
  3. The work permit will issue to the respective employees once the application approves by the IGI.
  4. You must submit an application for a long-term visa to the Romanian diplomatic mission or consular office in your home country. The 60 days have been allowed as a window for the employee to apply for a long-term visa after receiving a work permit from IGI.
  5. When the visa is approved by the Romanian Embassy in your country, you will fly to Romania. The employees from multi-professional solutions will meet you at the international airport.

Is Romania multi professional solution legal?

So far, we’ve learned that the company has a history of hiring junior-level staff from Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, and other nations.

You should conduct your own research to identify the genuine employment firm because today’s genuine staffing agency may turn to fraud tomorrow, so, you should not depend fully on only one article or on the company website.

list of security companies in dubai Under SIRA

Dubai is the regional headquarters of multinational corporations and the distribution hub for the Middle East and North African nations. The list of security companies in Dubai I have mentioned here plays a vital role in protecting the valuable assets of businesses and safeguarding communities against criminal activities.

Since the country’s private security regulation was reformed in 2001, security companies in the UAE operate under the supervision of SIRA and PSCOD.

The majority of security companies in the UAE obtained operational licenses from both authorities SIRA (Security Industries Regulatory Authority) and PSCOD (Private Security Company Organization Department).

They do so because the SIRA license allows them to operate in Dubai but not in other emirates and the PSCOD license allows them to operate in other emirates but not in Dubai.

In comparison to the other cities in the region, Dubai has much private security personnel. Security guard companies in Dubai offer a variety of services ranging from man guarding to air and maritime defense.

To deliver the different types of services, the organization must have a specific license. For example, if a company has a license to provide man guarding and property protection, it cannot offer cash in transit, bank security, or critical infrastructure security services.

Security employees should also have specific licenses to deliver the specific services for example; To provide armed guarding services, you must have an armed operation license, and to provide marine security, you must have a license and training for that.

People conduct their research on the internet, but how accurate are these information? Does anybody know about it?

The answer is No, because you may find fake employment agencies, false firms, fake interviewers online, etc. So, you should be aware that your employment search does not finish with defrauding someone.
