How Much is the Salary of Security Guard in Dubai?

The basic salary of a security guard in Dubai is generally the same across companies; however, differences can be found in overtime pay.

Each company has its way of calculating overtime, so your total earnings might be slightly higher or lower depending on the company.

In this post, we’ll break down the earnings of security guards in Dubai. We’ll look into how much they make, the maximum hours of overtime allowed, and how a company should calculate the overtime.

Every security company operating in Dubai must obtain an operating license from the Security Industry Regulatory Authority (SIRA). Once licensed, they are required to follow all the guidelines set out in Dubai’s private security regulations.

The Dubai government has established a private security regulation that both security professionals and companies must strictly follow.

The Security Industry Regulatory Authority (SIRA) is responsible for overseeing the implementation and enforcement of these regulations within the industry.

SIRA regulations have established a standardized minimum salary for security guards, currently most of the companies in Dubai are paying accordingly.

The overtime pay follows UAE labor law. Importantly, SIRA’s guidelines align with UAE labor law on overtime, ensuring no conflicts in wage standards.

All security professionals must understand the structure of overtime wages under UAE labor law because these rules also apply to security guards regulated by SIRA.

What is the Salary of a Security Guard in Dubai?

  • A security guard in Dubai earns a basic salary of AED 1,440 per month for working 26 days a month and 8 hours per day.
  • However, security guards typically work 12 hours a day, which means they accumulate 4 hours of overtime daily.
  • So, the total salary becomes:
    • Basic Salary: AED 1,440
    • Overtime Pay: AED 825
    • Total Salary: AED 2,265
  • Security guards receive 4 days off each month. If required to work on these days, companies must pay 150% a higher rate than regular overtime.

Note: These figures are approximate and can vary depending on the company’s policies and any updates to UAE labor laws. It’s essential to consult the latest regulations or your employment contract for the most accurate information.

In summary, most security guards in Dubai earn around AED 2,265 per month or slightly higher earnings if a company calculates overtime based on a 26-day work schedule.

Working on a public holiday or an off day can increase your salary, though companies often provide a substitute day off if they require you to work on your scheduled day off. To learn more about how to calculate overtime in UAE click this link.

how to calculate gratuity in uae for unlimited contract

When it comes to how to calculate gratuity in UAE for unlimited contract, you can either do it manually using a simple formula or rely on an online gratuity calculator.

However, ensure that the online calculators you use are up-to-date with the current UAE labour law and the recent ministerial decrees related to labor regulations.

In the past, employers calculated gratuity differently for limited and unlimited contracts. Now, they use a unified formula that applies to both types of contracts.

How to calculate gratuity in UAE for unlimited contract

Gratuity is not payable under the following conditions:

  • Service Less Than 1 Year: No gratuity is paid.
  • Service Between 1 and 5 Years: 21 days of basic salary for each year of service.
  • Service Over 5 Years: 30 days of basic salary for each year of service.

Example 1: If you have completed 4 years of service and your latest basic salary is 3,000 AED:

Daily salary calculation: 3,000 AED ÷ 30 = 100 AED per day

Total gratuity for 4 years: 100 AED × 21 days × 4 years = 8,400 AED

Example 2: If you have completed 6 years of service and your latest basic salary is 3,000 AED:

Daily salary calculation: 3,000 AED ÷ 30 = 100 AED per day

Total gratuity for 6 years: (100 AED × 21 days × 5 years) + (100 AED × 30 days × 1 year) = 10,500 AED + 3,000 AED = 13,500 AED

Gratuity calculator in uae

Disclaimer;

The Gratuity Calculator helps you estimate your gratuity based on UAE labor laws according to the information you provide. However, you should only use the results for informational purposes, because it is not a legal tool.

The calculations may not be entirely accurate due to various factors, such as compensation received during your employment, specific terms of your employment contract, or incomplete details provided.

Gratuity Calculator Dubai does not take responsibility for any inaccuracies in the calculations, and you should not rely on the results for legal or official purposes.

We strongly recommend consulting with a qualified lawyer or legal professional for precise and legally binding advice.

Apart from the gratuity what else the employer should pay you?

In addition to gratuity, your employer is also responsible for paying:

  • Any due annual leave
  • Unpaid salary for the current month
  •  Unpaid overtime
  • Unpaid holidays, and other entitlements.

Conclusion:

The method outlined above provides a gratuity calculation for the UAE in 2024, but this may change if the government introduces new employment regulations.

While the 2024 gratuity calculator offers an accurate estimate of your end-of-service compensation, various factors could still affect the final amount.

How to check SIRA result online, Dubai?

Newly hired security professionals in Dubai often ask, “How to you check SIRA result online?” The answer is that, unfortunately, there are not any online resources where you can check the results.

However, you can get the information regarding your SIRA test in multiple ways that we are going to discuss in this post.

  1. SIRA physical test;

The SIRA officials conduct this test at the training center. The security guard candidates should pass various physical tests.  You will receive the result on the spot.

Here’s how it works: When you run and cross a specific distance within the given time frame, you pass the running test. The same applies to other physical tests—you must complete each one within the specified time to pass.

2. Written test;

This is a crucial test where you must demonstrate the knowledge you’ve gained from the basic security guard course at the training centers.

SIRA officials also conduct this test, and you must secure at least the minimum passing mark of 70% or above.

After completing your writing test, you can get the result from your employer. SIRA sends the results directly to the company, and your employer will notify you of the outcome.

If you have taken the course independently, you will need to contact the SIRA office or the training center for the results.

After completing both the physical and written tests, you will need to apply for the license. However, if your employer-sponsored your training, they will handle all the necessary documentation and cover the associated charges on your behalf.

If your test is done on a computer, similar to the PSBD guard exam, you won’t need to wait for the result. Once you submit your answers, the system immediately displays the result on the screen.

I hope you find the answer to the question, “How to check SIRA result online.” Please note that while this process is currently applicable, it may change in the future as the Security Industry Regulatory Authority frequently updates its procedures and systems.

stall and market salesperson salary in UAE

Salespersons in the UAE work in two environments. Some are stationed at store stalls, where they engage with visiting customers and convince them to make purchases. Others visit potential clients—including offices and individuals—to bring new business to the company. In this post, we will discuss stall and market salesperson salary in UAE.

What is the stall and market salesperson salary in UAE?

There is no basic salary for this role. The basic pay is usually fixed through negotiation during the interview, or some companies offer their standard salary that most new salespeople accept.

The salary of a salesperson is influenced by several factors, such as the size of the company, the location of the job, the candidate’s experience, and their overall business performance.

  • The average salary for a stall and market salesperson in the UAE ranges from AED 1,800 to AED 6,000.
  • Most Asian and African nationals in this role typically earn between AED 2,000 to AED 4,000.
  • Meanwhile, Arab nationals and expatriates from Western countries generally receive higher salaries, starting from AED 3,000 to AED 5,000.
  • UAE nationals, on the other hand, earn significantly more, with salaries ranging from AED 5,000 to AED 7,500 per month.

Although you are working in the same position, nationality plays a crucial role in determining salary in the UAE.

How much does a salesperson earn in the UAE?

In the UAE, a salesperson’s earnings largely depend on how much business they bring to the company—the more you sell, the more you earn. Most companies reward salespeople when they sell products, whether in-store or outside.

Commissions from sales contribute to your income, but the amount can vary depending on the products you sell. Commissions are paid in several ways:

  1. Fixed Commission: For example, you earn AED 10 for each product you sell.
  2. Volume-Based Commission: You receive a certain percentage of the total sales you generate.
  3. New Business: This type of commission typically applies to salespeople in the service sector. If you bring in new business, you earn a commission, and it continues when you renew contracts.

Generally, a salesperson’s earnings are higher when their business performance is strong. Additionally, companies may provide housing allowances or accommodation, as well as communication and fuel allowances, depending on the company’s rules.

The stall and market salesperson in the UAE is classified as a skill level 4 job according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MOHRE), which categorizes various professions across the country.

It takes a few minutes but you should prepare the scanned copies of your documents such as educational certificates, relevant training certificates, experience documents, and passport and Emirates ID or residential visa. Fill in all the required information and upload your documents.
  5. Interview call: Once the relevant department reviews your application they will call you for the interview. If no call or no email for an interview think your application is rejected. Be sure you are fully prepared for the interview, some positions require a written exam you should be ready for that too.
  6. Start your job:  If you succeed in the interview and secure the position, you will receive a job appointment letter from the government entity and can begin your services.

Two types of government workers in Dubai

  1. Direct employment
  2. contractual employer

Nowadays, government entities in Dubai and other parts of the UAE increasingly hire contractual workers for certain roles. In this arrangement, contractor companies hire you and assign you to work within government entities.

However, your salary will come from the contracting company, not directly from the Dubai government.

On the other hand, roles advertised on the Dubai Career Government job board are not contractual. When you apply through this platform, you will be directly hired by government entities under the Dubai government. That’s why I always recommend using this process when searching for government jobs in Dubai.
