UAE Labour Law for Leave Salary
The UAE Labour Law ensures that employees are entitled to specific types of leave, along with the corresponding leave salary. Here’s what you need to know about your leave rights under the law:
1. Annual Leave:
- If an employee has worked for more than six months but less than a year, they are entitled to 2 days of leave for each month of service.
- After completing one year of service, employees are entitled to 30 days of annual leave each year.
- Employers may allow employees to take leave during the probation period, but this will be deducted from their annual leave.
- UAE Labour Law Unpaid Leave: If an employee hasn’t used their annual leave and their contract is terminated or they switch jobs, they are entitled to cash compensation based on their basic salary.
2. Sick Leave:
- After completing the probation period, employees are entitled to a maximum of 90 days of sick leave per year if they are unable to work due to health reasons.
- The Sick leave is structured as follows:
- The first 15 days with full pay.
- The next 30 days with half pay.
- Any additional days without pay.
3. Parenthood Leave:
Employees are entitled to 5 working days of full pay from the child’s birth until six months after.
4. Compassionate Leave:
- Employees are entitled to 5 days of leave with full pay in the event of a spouse’s death.
- In the case of the death of a parent, child, sibling, grandchild, or grandparent, employees are entitled to 3 days of leave with full pay.
- UAE Labour Law for Emergency Leave: ensures that these days off do not result in any salary deductions.
5. Study Leave:
Employees enrolled in higher education institutions in the UAE are entitled to 10 working days of study leave annually to sit for exams.
6. Maternity Leave:
- Maternity leave includes 45 days of full pay.
- An additional 15 days are provided with half pay.
- Employees may take up to 45 more days without pay, subject to a medical report.
- In cases of giving birth to a sick child or a child with disabilities (People of Determination), maternity leave can be extended by 30 days with full pay, followed by another 30 days without pay if needed.
