PSBD Security Interview Questions & Answers

Last Updated on February 6, 2025

If you’re preparing for a security guard interview regulated by the PSBD (Private Security Business Department) you’re in the right place. The PSBD is a government body that oversees private security operations across Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah, and Ajman. Below, we outline common PSBD security interview questions & answers to help you succeed.

Security companies licensed by PSBD recruit candidates before their training at the National Security Institute (NSI). The interview is a critical step to assess your suitability for the role.

PSBD Security Interview Questions & Answers

1. Tell me about yourself.

Sample Answer:
“Sir/Madam, I am Raj from Rajasthan, India. I completed my intermediate education and served five years in the Indian Army, followed by three years as a security guard at the Taj Hotel. My experience includes patrols, access control, and emergency response.”

2. What did you do in your previous job?

Sample Answer:
“In the army, I performed post duty, patrols, and sentry responsibilities. At the Taj Hotel, my duties included reception security, guest escorts, area patrols, and managing lost-and-found items.”

3. In case of fire, what would you do?

Sample Answer:
“First, I would activate the fire alarm and attempt to control the flames with a fire extinguisher if safe. If the fire escalates, I’d immediately contact the fire department, inform my supervisor, and alert the control room.”

4. How many types of fire are there?

Sample Answer:
“There are five classes:

    • Class A: Ordinary combustibles (wood, paper, plastic)
    • Class B: Flammable liquids (petrol, diesel)

    • Class C: Flammable gases (LPG, CNG)
    • Class D: Electrical fires
    • Class E: Metal fires (aluminum, magnesium)

5. As a mall guard, how would you handle an angry customer?

Sample Answer:
“I would calmly listen to their concerns. If they’re upset with a policy, I’d explain its importance for safety. If the issue relates to products/services, I’d escalate it to the relevant department for resolution.”

6. How would you handle an employee violating company rules?

Sample Answer:
“I’d first remind the employee of the rules. If they persist, I’d report the matter to my supervisor and the concerned department for further action.”

7. What mistakes have you made in previous roles?

Sample Answer:
“Once, I allowed a visitor entry without confirming their appointment after failing to reach the employee. The visitor had no scheduled meeting. Since then, I’ve strictly verified all appointments beforehand.”

8. What will you do if the police arrive at your duty post?

Sample Answer:
“I’d respectfully obtain the officer’s name, badge number, and case details. After their departure, I’d document the incident and notify my supervisor and control room.”

9. You witness a fight near your duty area. What do you do?

Sample Answer:
“I’d assess the situation discreetly. For minor disputes, I’d monitor closely. If it escalates or involves weapons, I’d contact the police and request backup from the control room.”

10. Why do you want to join our company?

Sample Answer:
“Your company is a leader in UAE security services. I believe it offers an excellent platform to leverage my skills and grow professionally.”
